2020 Research Grant

The Maine Brain Aneurysm Awareness Committee was pleased to award the 8th annual “KAT-Walk & Karo-5K Research Grant for 2020” to Dr. Robert Ecker and Dr. David Seder of the Maine Medical Center Neuroscience Institute at a very special MBAA Committee presentation ceremony on September 10, 2020 in Portland, Maine.

With this $5,000 Grant, Dr’s Ecker and Seder will continue to track and analyze information from all MMC patients that have suffered a Brain Aneurysm rupture or hemorrhagic stroke. Their staff will be following up with patients’ months and years after treatment, in order to track patterns around treatment success.

The Committee was also pleased to present an interim Research Grant to Dr. Robert Ecker of the Maine Medical Center and Tufts medical student John Charles McDonald. This $4,000 special grant will fund their project entitled: “Carotid Aneurysm Research, Mentorship, and Related Publication Expenses”. Jack McDonald is from Cape Elizabeth and is studying to become a Neurosurgeon with plans to remain heavily involved with research throughout his medical career.
